Narrowing down with the prototypes

Final week of prototyping is here! We're working to have a first playable build of our game up and functioning for people to try out their hands at synchronised paddling. The rafting and obstacle-dodging mechanics are shaping up.

We're also seeing each other's work more up-close even when we don't look over to other screens. We've moved in together, so to say; into one Unreal File :)

Game Design Document

Every game has one (we hope). Stands to say, we'll have our own detailed, polished manuscript as well. We're professionals, after all!

We're looking forward to a lot of in-depth, cohesive descriptions and definitions of everything that happens in our game when it's played. We've been writing out individual game design elements so far, adressing tons of questions as they naturallly come up,  and they'll be compiled into one gleaming word doc one day soon.

Visuals!

Our game has a cover now! It might be swapped out for something even cooler in the future folks, so remember to take a look. Don't let the saturation burn your eyes out.

Not just that, though, we've also made character colour mockups - you have to know who you partner in mortal danger is, as well as yourself of course - and separate ones for our campy environment. Everything is properly scaled and proportioned, our style is defined and our artists are putting the final work into our art bible.

On the modeling side, we have a small starter asset pack to lego our game's scene out of, a water shader that's getting better every day, and a growing library of obstacles you'll need to avoid!

Was anyone looking for an explanation of our extra efficient gradient texture workflow and water shader? No? You're free to go then, it's the last bit.

See you next week with new updates!!
