Sprint 2 comes to a close

Our tiny game's production period is ending. From now on, nothing new will be added. However! We're looking forward to 2 weeks of rigorous scrubbing, debugging, polishing and retouching to make sure what we have comes out properly refined. Values will be tweaked for maximum fun (playtesting ensues), sprite animations will be smoothed out, bugs will be swatted, and our game will get a nice trailer, too.

While we plan all that out, though, here are some of the final things we've done this past week!

We've got a scenic shot of obstacles coming down the river for our main menu! Devs have been hard at work (certainly more than our artists this week, as they've been mostly done - simple visuals lend themselves well to the artsy side of development), and have finished up a number of tasks this week: loading screens, rfx implementation, and something we thought we'd ave to drop: the bomb! One of our devs put in the work for our game to have this very fun pickup option. Our helmeted river children can nuke each other if they so desire.

Trees wobble now, and fire gives off some sparks, breathing more life into the environment:

And lastly, some additional RFX we were still missing. The shield effect, during which a school of enthusiastic fish protect you from incoming obstacles, impact splashes, and the slingshot is equipped with an aim line to help players see how it works:

From now on, the game won't drastically change; but the experience of playing it will get smoother, and so will some visuals.

Stay tuned,

the team
