Fun mechanics, swanky shaders, visual evolution oh my!
Welcome back to production, week 2!
While you weren't looking, we were working. Like Santa's elves.
We have implemented obstacles spawning on the river, making survival harder as time goes on, and our rowing mechanics are fun and responsive. Other than rowing, you can now also leave the boat by pressing Y, whether to abort mission or betray your buddy is up to you...
Our tech artist - rigger, animator and shader creator, man of many talents - has brought our scout models to life with some animations! By next week, they'll appear in game when they need to.
The pickups that will light up the gameplay (literally) are fitted out with textures and ready to get in there:
And, of course, our environment is well on its way to greatness! The water shader is positivelly deluxe, the forest is fleshing out (mental image, anyone?) and the sounds are coming together for an immersive experience. That last experience, you'll have to download our game for ;)
The view of our scene is changing, growing in detail and evolving. Soon we'll have the HUD ready as well, and you'll be able to see yourself lose precious energy in real time (;
Speaking of energy, the energy system is in place! The programming team has been working and has found a solution to make sure players cant row infinitely. We're still making sure that players dont feel this system is too punishing but not that too forgiving either. But that's game balancing for you!
